All I Want To Be

When I was a little girl I wanted to be so many different things.  I wanted to be an astronaut, a veterinarian, an archaeologist, an anthropologist, a handwriting analyst, an editor, a school teacher, a therapist, and on…and on…and on.

Now that I’m all grown up (I turn 30 on Friday) do you know what I want to be?  I just want to be a good wife.  That’s it.  All the things I wanted to be when I was a kid I truly don’t feel like they matter anymore. I just want to be a good wife and I want to live a happy life with my husband. That’s what I want.

I remember reading Proverbs 31:10-31 about a wife of noble character and that’s what I want to be now that I’m all grown up.  There are people that will say something along the lines of, “But…don’t you realize you can be anything you want to be?!?” and naturally my answer is “Yes. Of course I realize that and what I want to be is a good wife.”

I have a good life with my husband.  He’s kind and loving and attentive and compassionate and loyal and faithful and intelligent and humorous. He does a lot to ensure that I am happy and secure and all I want is to be able to return those feelings of security and love.
