My Shepherd

Last night I had very faithful dreams.  It was very unlike me (not to be faithful, but to have dreams about it).  I actually dreamed Psalm 23.Jesus-and-Woman

Psalm 23:

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.  He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.  Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

It was a comfort to me.  It was the reminder I needed to relax and understand that God is in control and He is guiding me.  It’s that first sentence.  The Lord is my shepherd.  My Shepherd.

He is my shepherd who will lead me into safe situations and keep me safe from harm.  I am in danger only when I stray from His path and away from His guidance.  I need to remember that.  I need to remember that I do not need to stress or worry; I need to trust and have faith.  I need to seek God in prayer and follow as He leads me.

It was a comforting night of sleep.
